I’ve done a pretty good job over the past couple of years in keeping my hair from oxidizing from sun exposure – a real peril of long hair is looking like you have strange extensions at a certain point when the sun damages the shaft of your hair and the color (natural or processed) changes. At least the ends of my hair are pretty close to the color of my roots lately.
Unfortunately keeping color isn’t easy – a lot of updos and hats are involved if I’m going beachside. I’ve tried various hair SPF formulas – but most leave my hair with too much residue and far too dull. Next on my list to try is Fekkai’s SunShine Shield Spray, which sounds pretty good from the write-up.
To avoid the “too much product” factor, it sprays out in a micro-spray so you can control how much goes on. It contains an SPF to protect against sun damage, as well as lightweight silicone to keep moisture in your hair. It also contains Sunflower Seed Oil – which is an absolutely amazing hair conditioner. On top of all that, it adds shine to your hair (a welcome feature for me after all the dulling hair protector products I’ve tried over the years!).
You can find Frederic Fekkai Summer Hair Sunshine Shield Spray at Sephora for $22. I’m looking forward to trying it.
