When used in the traditional square shape, it can hold several more compact shorter items. I like the ability to carry my pricer eyelash curlers such as Shiseido, Shu Uemura, Surratt or Kevyn Aucoin curlers (seen between the white bottle and blue tube) without crushing their delicate shape as can happen in some makeup bags.

This bag also fits the traditional Dopp bag uses of overnight travel products such as mini travel size shampoo and conditioner, full-size soap, deodorant, toothpaste, razors, and brushes.
