Sacred Mama Organics SuperFood Beauty Oil is the beauty brainchild of Sacred Mama Organics founder Judy Beserra. This organic oil packs in beauty powerhouses like Pomegranate, Royal Jelly, Abyssinian Seed and Rosehip Oils. The true star of this oil, however, is “baby collagen”-making Watercress.
Wonderful, Wonderful Watercress
Sacred Mama Organics SuperFood Beauty Oil is a non-comedogenic Watercress-based oil. It is suitable for daily use and beauty emergencies.
We previously posted exciting skincare research identifying the exact mechanism of the skin resiliency changes that cause rougher skin and overall skin aging. The study cited that Watercress reverses these skin issues by promoting Collagen III production in the dermal cells. Collagen III is known as baby collagen because it is plentiful at birth but diminishes with age. Collagen III must regenerate in the dermal cells of the papillary dermis skin layer to reverse signs of aging. [1] Watercress can do this.
Watercress also contains many skin-enhancing nutrients. One example is copper. Copper builds both collagen and elastin.
Elastin gives skin its’ springy, vibrant, youthful bounce. Elastin is as important as collagen, but fewer products address elastin restoration. And even fewer restore the collagen and elastin fibers in the dermal cells.
Watercress is only one of the many skin-enhancing ingredients in this amazing formulation.
These ingredients are natural, safe and backed by many independent research studies. Let’s take a look.
Ingredient Profile
Watercress (Nasturtium Officinale Seed Oil)
Watercress is a gentle antioxidant full Vitamins A, C, E, K, and notably, Copper. [2] Watercress is a wonderful inclusion in this formulation because Copper has the rare and amazing ability to restore skin elastin. Elastin gives skin its’ youthful bounce and the ability to spring back.
Watercress supports both dermal cells and enhanced collagen production to make skin firmer and radiant. It specifically encourages collagen III production.
The Vitamin K in Watercress can reduce brown and blue-tinged under eye dark circles caused by leaking capillaries. It is especially effective paired with other actives [3]
Vitamins A and C fight free radicals.
Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil
Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil is Hemp Oil. Hemp Seed Oil comes from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant. Hemp Seed Oil doesn’t contain the same compounds as the plant but has the nutrients and fatty acids.
Hemp Oil is high in Omega-3, 6 and 9 fatty acids. It is also high in Vitamins A, E, and D.
Royal Jelly
Royal Jelly is a bee product, the gelatinous substance that feeds the queen bee. It smooths fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps with wound healing [4] and skin repair. [5] This anti-inflammatory anti-oxidant is filled with skin-friendly nutrients.
Studies show Royal Jelly combats sun damage and has the capacity to promote collagen (procollagen type I) production. [6]
Rosehip oil
Rosehip Seed Oil is high in Vitamins A, C, and E, making it ideal for collagen production. [7] Â Rosehip oil inhibits MMP-1, an enzyme that breaks down collagen. [8]
It provides nutrients, fades acne scars and promotes cell turnover.
Rose Hip Seed Oil is a Vitamin C variant that is both a treatment and a hydrating ingredient. It offers the benefits of Vitamin C and Retinol serums such as lightening dark spots but without causing irritation.
Rosehip oil also has omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids to soothe and moisturize eczema or dry skin. [9]
Punica Granatum Seed Oil
Pomegranate seeds deliver impressive collagen-building results. They are packed with antioxidants, minerals, vitamins A, C, K, and E plus folic acid.
Research shows Pomegranate Seed oil holds double its’ weight in water for superior skin hydration. Pomegranate contains three times the antioxidants of wine or green tea. [10]
The polyphenols are antioxidants that protect skin cells from oxidative damage. Other antioxidants reduce inflammation ranging from puffiness to acne and tackle oxidative damage like dark spots and sun damage. It increases skin barrier formation and improves skin hydration.
Omega 5 fatty acid reduces skin inflammation and aids in skin repair for scarring, discoloration, and acne marks.

Best known as marigold. Calendula flower promotes the regeneration of new tissue and soothes damaged skin.
Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil
Abyssinian Seed Oil is lightweight and easily absorbed. It contains linoleic acid, the predominant fat in skin cells. Linoleic acid is an omega-6 fatty acid with skin barrier-strengthening, healing, hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties. This forms the lipid barrier that holds moisture in skin cells, which keeps skin hydrated.
Abyssinian Seed Oil uniquely contains ample unsaturated C22 fatty acids, making it highly resistant to oxidation.
Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil
Olive oil has skin enhancing Omega-3s and polyphenols.
Like Abyssinian Seed Oil, Olive Oil also contains Linoleic acid which has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Nadia Greene says
This sounds so awesome ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Style Chicks says
We agree, Nadia!
Marina O. says
CAnt tolerate scented on my face. Can you smell the rosehips?
Alexis M. says
Me too! So sad!
Style Chicks says
Good question Marina. Lyn can’t tolerate strong scents like rosehip either. Which is a shame because it is so great for skin.
Lyn reports she can’t detect the scent of the rosehips in this formulation, or any other of the stronger scented oils. There is a faint vague citrus scent – likely the Lime, Grapefruit and orange peel oils. It lasts while massaging in the oil by hand or with a jade roller. But even near the eye area, the scent was okay for highly sensitive Lyn. Hope this helps Marina!
Liza Heron says
â¤ï¸â¤ï¸ watercress
Style Chicks says
We agree Liza! And this is a great formulation
Lori Mulraine says
Baby collagen?
Style Chicks says
Hi Lori! Thanks for the comment.
Baby collagen is the skincare nickname of Collagen III, the kind that makes skin look and act younger. Babies’ skin is full of it, but we lose it towards our thirties. Skin WITH more Collagen III looks smooth, skin with decreased Collagen III is rougher.
Several ingredients, like vitamin C, assist in some part of collagen production, but Watercress makes Collagen III.
Check out some interesting collagen research here for more details.
