LED based Light therapy has successively been used in dermatologist and medical spas for years for several skin care treatments including the treatment of acne and rosacea, reducing inflammation and wrinkles, and the production of collagen. While there have been some light therapy devices available for at-home use, they tend to be not very powerful, or they are very expensive. So I was excited to try out the Rejuven Light LED Light Therapy Device.
ABOUT THIS DEVICE
The Rejuven Light LED Light Therapy Device comes with four interchangeable heads. Each respective head is the four different light therapy colors that have proved effective in the treatment of specific skin care problems: green, red, yellow, and blue.
The light heads are each an actual LED of the respective colors and not a colored plastic shield emulating the appearance of colored light LEDs. This is a superior feature to many of the at-home LED light therapy devices on the market and compared to the devices I have seen; it is a feature typically seen on much more expensive devices.
The base is sturdy and withstands the changing of heads well. Directions are clear on the device itself, with the ability to change between the three light variants of constant or pulsing light intensities for use in various treatment settings.
Also included in the kit are blue tinted goggles that protect the eyes from the intensity of the light. They are similar to swim goggles in appearance. These goggles should be put on first before turning on the device and selecting a pulsing intensity for treatment.
TREATMENT
There is no pain or unpleasant sensation at all during use; it does not even feel particularly warm. I did notice with the red LED light head that an area of inflammation due to a bug bite I had on my arm felt more comfortable after use and the swelling reduced.
The treatment is quick and simple. It can be done on bare skin or done with treatment serums or moisturizers that the light can help drive into the skin for deeper penetration.
Depending on the skin condition under treatment, results can be seen in a few days to a few weeks. A general glow to the skin can be seen almost immediately after use with the green LED light head. Acne responds very quickly when the blue LED is used to eliminate bacteria. Inflammation and swelling reduce very quickly with the red light head. After a few weeks of use wrinkles and discoloration begin to fade. I am especially excited about the effect of the red LED for rebuilding collagen on areas like my arms and legs. For anyone who has stretch marks from rapid weight gain or loss, LED light therapy is very useful on the skin on areas such as stomach, thighs and flabby under arms.
CONCLUSION
I am delighted to find an at-home LED light therapy system that uses real colored LED light heads instead of just tinted shields placed over generic LEDS that simulate try light therapy. This feature is most often found in much more expensive light therapy systems. It is also unusual to find a system that offers four types of colored light in one set and yet is still affordable. This device is easy to handle, it is simple to use, and it is sturdy. It is an excellent value and useful for numerous skin conditions.
