We previously introduced Pinch of Colour, a waterless beauty brand. The Pinch Of Colour range includes skincare and cosmetics such as a Waterless Lip Oil. Today we take a peek at the Pinch of Colour Matte Velvet Waterless Lip Colour.
Why We Love It
Pinch of Colour Matte Velvet Waterless Lip Colour has long-lasting coverage and a rich dimension to it’s a glam finish. Plus it is packed with lip-loving hydrating ingredients such as Jojoba, Mango Seed, and Rosehip oils.
Notably, Pinch of Colour Matte Velvet Waterless Lip Colour is vegan, cruelty-free, and paraben-free. It is also Water-free. Waterless beauty is not only socially conscious, but it makes for a higher quality end product.
The Experience
These Pinch of Colour matte lipsticks come in rich, flattering shades and have a smooth texture. The oils make it smooth but the lipstick does not run.
ShadesPinch of Colour Matte Velvet Waterless Lip Colour comes in twelve shades, an assortment of warm and cool base tones including a classic but modern red and cheery pinks.
We tried Sophia, an elegant crisp, cool, deep red-pink berry, and Eva, a vibrant pop of pink.
Packaging
It is packaged in a minimalist white and silver case with signature logo.
texture
The texture is smooth enough for a precise application. Unlike some natural lip products, it is not too hard and waxy or too mushy. It applies well and doesn’t feather even on my chronically dry lips.
Wear
See how the kiss prints above are faded? This lipstick doesn’t come off on my glass while drinking, or while eating salad with dressing. It just began to wear off while eating pizza. This long-wearing formula isn’t drying like a stain but it does stay put like one.
Ingredients
Let’s review Pinch of Colour Matte Velvet Waterless Lip Colour’s impressive ingredient line up.
ingredient profile
Mango Seed Butter
Mango Seed Butter provides a long-lasting emollient. Rich in fatty acids, it is perfect to keep skin hydrated and dewy overnight.
Mango is high in copper. Copper builds Collagen, Elastin and increases Hyaluronic Acid production within the skin. Copper is rare within skincare products because extraction is costly. A natural ingredient high in copper is a great addition to this formulation!
Mango Seed Butter also contains Vitamins C, A, E, K and B6.
SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL
Jojoba Seed Oil is very similar to the composition of our natural skin oils, so skin tends to absorb Jojoba very well.
Jojoba gives skin elasticity and softness. Jojoba Oil is a carrier oil, increasing the efficacy of other active ingredients.
It smoothes lip wrinkles and fine lines without causing irritation.
Rosa Canina Fruit Oil
Rosehip Seed Oil is high in Vitamins A, C, and E. They provide nutrients and promote cell turnover.
Rose Hip Seed Oil is a Vitamin C variant that is both a treatment and a hydrating ingredient.
Rosehip oil also has omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids to soothe and moisturize eczema or dry skin. [1]
Supporting Players
TOCOPHERYL ACETATE
Tocopheryl Acetate is a form of Vitamin E oil used in skincare. E makes damaged lip skin soft and pliable again while reducing wrinkle formation. Vitamin E also has anti-inflammatory properties, which soothe irritated lips.
CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE
Capric Triglyceride naturally occurs in palm kernel or coconut oil. It is a mixed ester composed of caprylic and capric fatty acids attached to glycerin. [2]
Capric Triglyceride can make greasy ingredients leave a non-greasy finish. This is helpful in a lipstick formulation such as this one which contains such rich oils.
Caprylic/capric triglyceride creates a barrier on the skin’s surface to reduce moisture loss and address dryness.
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is one of the cleanest ingredients with no reported toxicity.
ABOUT THE BRAND
Pinch of Colour made one of the first waterless beauty brands.
You will note water is missing from the ingredient list. Water is usually at the beginning of the ingredient list- most of the time making up almost 70 to 80% of the formula. Cutting water from the formulation actually creates a more hydrating product because it won’t interfere with our skin’s natural sebum protective barrier.
Driven by a mission to conserve precious water for drinking, Pinch of Colour not only performs professionally and delivers a more potent product, but they make a difference through philanthropic initiatives.

So pretty,
Style Chicks says
We agree, Rosie!
Rachel says
Is it dry without water tho?
Style Chicks says
Good question Rachel. No not dry. And not oily or waxy.
The color is very pigmented. Waterless makeup is interesting, the texture is superior and this formulation is pigmented and concentrated.

Sopia looks red
Style Chicks says
Hi Penelope.
In the tube, I expected it to be a deep red as well. Upon application it is a ripe berry shade with raspberry pink undertones.
