Fake a youthful look with a delicate honey glow. Pinch of Colour Honey Glow Waterless Balm primes, moisturizes and instantly highlights skin with a dewy yet natural-looking healthy sheen that isn’t glittery. Bonus: these ingredients, like Camilla Japonica oil, are what one would expect to find in a pricey boutique skincare serum, not a go-to highlighter
Why It Is Special
Highlighter is that finishing touch that perfects your look. Unless …it doesn’t.
It is pretty easy for highlighter to look good in your makeup mirror but then look freaky and overdone in outside or office lighting. Bad placement or overzealous highlighter application can quickly go wrong.
Unlike shimmery, icy or glittery highlighters, you just can’t overdo it with Pinch of Colour Honey Glow Waterless Balm.
This universally flattering honey shade is transparent enough for your natural skin tone to show. You, but dewy glowing and brighter.
The Experience
The balm looks opaque but is sheer on the skin. I love how it catches the light without looking shimmery or fake.
Skip the contour and opt for this universally flattering honey highlighter instead. Perfect to quickly look alert and vibrant on video conference without seeming made up.
Apply Pinch of Colour Honey Glow Waterless Balm high on the cheekbones, directly to lips, or on the brow bone for highlighted radiance.
You cant overdo it and it isn’t sparkley. It is not waxy, greasy, or powdery. It has a delicate honey scent.
It is ideal for mature skin because it wont settle into fine lines and it contains natural ingredients one expects in a treating serum. Let’s take a look.
The Ingredients
Hydrogenated Castor Oil
Hydrogenated Castor Oil is made from castor bean oil with added hydrogen. This make it a semi-solid waxy form that is firm but spreadable.
It is a stable and safe ingredient that delivers the benefits of castor oil including moisture retention.
CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE
Capric Triglyceride naturally occurs in palm kernel or coconut oil. It is a mixed ester composed of caprylic and capric fatty acids attached to glycerin.
Caprylic/capric triglyceride is a natural skin replenishing emollient that creates a barrier on the skin’s surface, which helps to reduce skin dryness by decreasing the loss of moisture. [1]
CAMELLIA JAPONICA SEED OIL
An excellent antioxidant and moisturizer, Camellia japonica oil is rich in Omega 9. Omega 9 helps the skin retain hydration. Camellia japonica oil also contains polyphenols, vitamins A, D, C, and E.
This non-comedogenic oil promotes skin elasticity.[2]
This variant of Camellia oil (Japonica) is more difficult to obtain but worth the effort. It the most effective at transdermal collagen and elastin delivery. It is traditionally used for skincare by brands like Tatcha and SK-II. Camilla japonica oil is the real deal.
SORBITAN OLIVATE
Sorbitan Olivate is a combination of the fatty acids of olives and a fruit-based sugar alcohol.
Sorbitan Olivate is highly moisturizing lends a creamy consistency.
HONEY EXTRACT
Honey extract is a natural humectant derived as a glycol or glycerin of honey.
Honey has amino acids, peptides, and antioxidants. It is highly moisturizing and forms a protective barrier on skin, especially on dry patches. [3]
Honey extract contains the benefits of honey without the tacky, thick honey texture.
SHEA BUTTER
Shea Butter softens skin and damage such as acne scars and sunburn.
Shea can feed the skin and overhaul the skin texture.
vitamin E
Areas that we highlight are the areas the sun hits. These areas are more subject to wrinkles and photo damage.
Vitamin E soothes skin and reduces wrinkle formation in these key areas because it helps skin retain moisture and repair skin.
About the Brand
Pinch of Colour is one of the first waterless beauty brands and one of the very few offering cosmetics.
You will note water is missing from the ingredient list. Water is usually at the beginning of the ingredient list- most of the time making up almost 70 to 80% of the formula. Cutting water from the formulation actually creates a more hydrating product because it won’t interfere with our skin’s natural sebum protective barrier.
Driven by a mission to conserve precious water for drinking, Pinch of Colour not only performs professionally and delivers a more potent product, but they make a difference through philanthropic initiatives.
